I've had a surcharge. What is this?

On occasion, surcharges may be charged to your FreightBroker account. Surcharges represent the additional costs incurred by FreightBroker that result from the order you placed. We will always notify you by email if your order has incurred a surcharge.

Additional Handling



Charged if additional handling is required due to size, weight or packaging type.



UPS, FedEx, DPD, Parcelforce




Address Correction /Redirection



Charged if the carrier has corrected your collection or delivery address information or a change of address is requested post collection.



All carriers.



Collection



Charged if collection is required as opposed to dropping goods of the carrier.



UPS.



Disbursement of Customs Duties /Taxes



Charged if FreightBroker has had to process a payment on your or your recipients’ behalf for customs duties /taxes.



All carriers.




Non-stackable /Non-conveyable



Charged if an item cannot be stacked on or under another pallet, be packaged with other parcels in a cage or be moved on a conveyor belt, either on request of the Shipper or by nature of the size, weight, shape, content or packaging used.



DHL, TNT, FedEx, DPD and UPS.




Oversize / Over-max / Over-length / Over-weight



Charged if parcels exceeding the carriers’ maximum parcel size will incur a penalty.



All carriers.



Disbursement Fee



If we have agreed to to ship your goods Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) or have settled any other customs charges on your behalf, a surcharge will be raised against your account  in order to cover the costs of handling the extra payment. This is charged at £5.00 or 5% of the total customs charges incurred, (whichever is the greater) for values equal to or under £150 or £10.00 or 5% of the total customs charges incurred, (whichever is the greater) for values exceeding £150.



FreightBroker



Remote /Out of Area



Charged if the collection or delivery address may be classified as remote /out of area by your chosen carrier.



DHL, UPS, TNT, FedEx and DPD.



Residential Delivery



Charged if delivery to a residential address is required. Includes businesses operating out of a home.



UPS, TNT.



Restricted Destination / Elevated Risk



Charged if shipping to a destination country that is subject to trade restrictions imposed by the European Union or to a destination country where the courier is operating at elevated risk due to continuous state of war, civil unrest, or continuous threats from terrorism.

Return to Sender



Charged if a consignment cannot be delivered to your recipient or if a return is requested.



All carriers.



Second Collection /Delivery Attempt



Charged if further collection or delivery attempts are required.



UPS, DPD and TNT


Pall-Ex, Palletways and Pallet Track (collection and delivery).



Storage



Charged if the carrier has had to store your goods for a period of time beyond what is usual or reasonable, either at your request or because delivery could not be made.

Under-declaration



Charged if the carrier identifies a discrepancy in size and /or weight of a shipment.
